- Maintain sustainable practices ensuring the land continues to support future generations.
- Govern access to territories, including monitoring, enforcement, and decision-making about land use.
Cultural and Legal Foundations
- Stewardship and harvesting rights are not just legal rights—they are obligations derived from Wet’suwet’en law, identity, and relationship with the land.
- The feast system formalizes these responsibilities, ensuring each House group manages its territory for community well-being.
